Unconditioned ailment – Disagreed treatment

Once upon a time there were a kingdom and a king named Mahishmathi and Naredra Bahubali respectively. All his subjects were happy in his reign. His enemy, Kalakeya, with a mala fide contention of conquering the entire world, warred many times against him. As Kalakeya could not succeed triumph over Bahubali, he treacherously infected Mahishmathi with an invisible creature (may be called virus) to smash the whole kingdom of Mahishmathi.

The invisible creature (short form IC) propagated itself rapidly and used to bite on the faces of people in the kingdom. The succumbed people got a severe breathing trauma and later it had caused to their death. This pandemic spread annoyed the king very much and he ordered his people not to roam in streets and open places till the new malady curtailed. His people obeyed his orders in the beginning but trespassed later as it was not practical for them. Consequently, the mortality rate in the kingdom hiked up unexpectedly.

As Bahubali was a shrewd king, he discovered a remedy for the IC bite. He supplied all his subjects a small porous pouch with two tiny holes and ordered them to insert their head into it duly covering total face up to neck and adjusting its holes to be placed on their eyes whenever they come out from houses or closures. As the pouch disallowed biting of IC on faces, the wearer was safe from the hazard illness. All the people followed the king’s behest scrupulously. Thus the recurrence of deaths came down in very soon.

But the human life in Mahishmathi became monotonous and unenthusiastic as faces of the people covered with pouch. People were not able to recognise other persons resulting repetition of unwanted events like hugging other’s spouse and other odd misbehaviours. Students felt bored as they missed charming smiles from their loves. Similarly young women were also not gleeful because no man was following them and did not complement their gorgeous figure. All of these defectives were brought to the notice of the emperor.

Bahubali was depressed very much by all these social chaos.  Immediately he called his uncle, Kattappa, to hint for any remedy to this vulgarity. After prolonged discourse between them, Kattappa suggested a Sacrifice (i.e., Yag in Hindi) of insects on the analogy of sacrifice of serpents (i.e., Sarp Yag in Hindi) for entire devastation of insect class. The king ordered his uncle to get all the requirements for doing the sacrifice arranged.

Bahubali opened his laptop (please do not pose any controversy since it is a myth) and started search for the chants of sacrifice of serpents. Then he converted them into the chants of insects by adopting the tool Find and Replace (i.e., Find serpent and Replace with insect).

The insect living in the laptop (i.e., popularly called computer virus) was frightened very much with the act of Kattappa. Because when the sacrifice of insects was performed, no insect including the software insect would be spared from fatality. Thus the software insect entreated Lord Indra (i.e., the lord of gods in English) to rescue it from the upcoming endanger.

Lord Indra promised the software insect for deliverance from future menace but he astonished why the software insect sought boon from him instead from the Trio (i.e., Lord Brahm, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiv in Hindi). The software insect replied that he was its community god (i.e., Kul dev in Hindi) for them. Because his earlier foot prints viz., disruption of penance done by saints and morphing himself to deceive other’s wife, were its code of conduct to spoil computer programmes. The Lord of gods was very much delighted as he also had an aficionado.

Later he visited incognito (like a priest) Bahubali and advised him not to perform the proposed sacrifice of insects. The king replied him with due respects that the action was meant for welfare of the entire state and posed him what wrong was in it.

Lord Indra explained that even the king’s action is of narcissism, his people would not greet it and the king should not be overburden. As the disbelieved king asked him to prove his argument, Indra accepted the challenge.

Lord Indra told the king that he had a powerful drug (vaccine) for permanent cure of this ailment and requested to a make mass conference with all people of his kingdom in the fort for giving treatment.

Bahubali accepted the unbelievable exaggeration and ordered a clarion call to throng the whole people of Mahishmathi in the fort on the following day. The entire Mahishmathi civilians, with a pouch-mask on their heads, appeared in the fort on the confirmed day to get their chance of treatment.

Indra was introduced by the Bahubali to the public as the healer of pandemic disease. The public applauded very much and shouted for treatment.

The lord of gods told the public certain precautionary statements in order before undergoing his treatment. He suggested the mob that he would tell them the three side effects of his drug one by one and the persons who were willing to them could stay at for treatment and the unwilling had a choice to leave the fort.

The public enthusiastically screamed out as a token of acceptance. Kattappa gestured his hand to explain maintenance of silence.

Lord Indra said the first side effect of his drug. The person who took his drug could not be able to smoke or to eat or to smell any tobacco product and to drink any alcoholic beverage in the entire rest of his life because they would get a pall sense.

After hearing the first side effect, at first no reaction from the gathering but after a pause, a few people around 15% of its density, including women, flitted from there showing their unwillingness.

Bahubali stood agape with incredulity. Kattappa stared at his king. Lord Indra chuckled at them and started to explain the second side effect of his drug which was a permanent disability of the acceptor in not telling any lie in the entire rest of his life.

The panicky public in large quantity, having understood sense of the second side effect, strode towards entrance of the fort to quit out.

Both Bahubali and Kattappa were very much puzzled with the attitude of the public. They questioned themselves if lie is more precious than life. Kattappa tried to halt a group of eluding public and asked them the reasons for their negative reaction on the treatment. Their replies were as given below:

“How can we sell a cheap or bogus item as if it is the best quality of it without lying?”

“How can we convince any customer that the ‘buy one and get ten’ offer is a saving scheme without leasing?”

“How can we say any reason for late coming without lying?”

“How can we trap any lady without telling lies?”

“How can we trap parents without lying to join their children in our school as we offer more facilities than of others?”

“Many persons in the society have a strong belief that the more timing spent on chants (i.e., pooja pat in Hindi), the more perfection of prayer and devotion. So I used to mingle all chants of all gods in my performance irrespective of the specialty of a particular festival meant for a single god. If I were not able to do like that, I could not get any chance from the public to conduct their rituals. So lying is an essential ingredient in conducting one’s job.”

With such reasons almost 80% of the public left the fort with discord.

The reasons of the public were very much disappointed the king. After getting a forceful relief from the abstract pain, Bahubali requested the lord of gods to give his treatment to the remaining public at least.

Indra smiled at him and replied that one more side effect was balance to reveal. The king nodded his head unwillingly for acceptance to proceed next.

The lord of gods told the rest of public about the 3rd side effect. If his drug was consumed, the taker would not be able get any assistance, relief, tax concessions, charities and so on from the ruler in future in the entire rest of his life.

As soon as Indra proclaimed the last side effect of his drug, the total remaining public left the fort instantly.

Bahubali was paralysed totally by the reaction shown by the rest of people.

Indra tried to soothe him. “My dear king, I think I have proved my contention. You only, not your people, have the desire to save their lives. The priorities of people are awesomely modified. They are very firm to take any sort of risk to fulfil their eternal passions. Even for it, they are very much selfish. Earlier the slogan, may all people of the planet be blessed with comfort (i.e., sarve jana sukhino bhavanthu in Sanskrit) had attached a great importance. Now it is reframed that may all the wants be blessed to me ( i.e., sarv itche aham pratho bhavanthu in Sanskrit). Anymore no one is fearful not to cheat others, plunder anything or harass anybody irrespective of relationship and intimacy with them. Everyone, irrespective of one’s status, has a greedy eye on the benefits offered by the ruler in his ruling. So do not be credulous in your ruling. May god bless you long life. May god bless you victory. Bye”

Bahubali and Kattappa clubbed their palms in vertical direction as a mark of respect and half bowed their heads. Indra left the fort and disappeared later.

With the shock given by his subjects, the king merged himself into a deep thought for a while. Later he asked Kattappa, “Uncle, is there any sacrifice of human beings (i.e., Manav Yag in Hindi) …. Let us do it without any waste of time.”
